Abstract

This article reviews the critical works on Urdu generic Qaseeda. In criticism of Urdu Qaseeda there is a huge volume of critical works but its quality is too low. But the number of quantitative articles is very few. For this, keeping in view the critical works of the yester century, the article in hand presents the abstract of the works of representative poets of Urdu Qaseeda. Before this, there was no work available on this particular topic. This piece on literature is of utmost critical importance in the works on criticism on Qaseeda. The first appreciation of qasida writing in Urdu is seen in the writers of Qaseedas. However, the opinions available in the Qaseedas are more worthy of praise than criticism. It is done on the same lines which were formulated by the commentators. For example, the Qasaids of Sauda were declared as Urdu Qaseeda by the commentators.
